Food Seva at MRV: Nurturing compassion through sharing

At MET Rishikul Vidyalaya (MRV), education extends beyond books and classrooms. We firmly believe that true learning is rooted in values, empathy, and responsibility. One of the most meaningful expressions of this belief is our unique initiative, The Food Seva.

What is Food Seva?

Food Seva is a tradition of compassion practised at MRV, where families offer a form of service to society through their own children. Every grain of food that remains unconsumed by students is not wasted but instead redirected to feed a needy child.

This simple act transforms daily nourishment into an opportunity for service, reminding students that sharing is one of the highest values we can live by.

Why Food Seva Matters

Building Empathy: By knowing their unconsumed meal helps another child, they develop sensitivity toward the less fortunate.

Living Values: Families and children actively participate in a practice that reflects care, gratitude, and service.

Holistic Growth: Beyond academics, students grow as mindful, responsible, and compassionate global citizens.
A value that lasts a lifetime.

Through Food Seva, MRV ensures that education is not only about knowledge but also about nurturing the heart. Children begin to see themselves not just as learners, but as contributors to society. This early foundation of empathy stays with them for life, shaping them into individuals who value service as much as success.

At MRV, Food Seva is more than an initiative — it is a way of living our philosophy of 'Rooted in values, reaching for the world'.
