In the Age of AI, Some Things Remain Beautifully Human

In the age of Artificial Intelligence, we often wonder what technology will change and what it will leave untouched.

As I participated in a beautiful Teachers’ Day programme organised by the students of our Literary Club, I found my answer.

I had expected something digital, perhaps an AI-assisted presentation, an animated conversation, or a technologically crafted tribute to teachers. After all, I am a firm believer in embracing modern technology, moving with the times and flowing with the changing landscape of education.

But the students chose something wonderfully different.

They wrote an original poem themselves, without the assistance of AI or any digital tool, and presented it to their teachers with such simplicity, warmth and sincerity that their little gestures touched every heart in the room.

For a moment, technology seemed to recede into the background, and something far more powerful took centre stage and that's the human connection between a teacher and a student.

Their poem reminded me that while AI can generate words, it cannot generate the warmth behind a grateful heart. Technology can create impressive experiences, but it cannot replace the emotion in a student’s eyes when they speak to a teacher with love and reverence.

Today, our students gave us a beautiful reminder: education is not merely an exchange of information. It is an exchange of humanity.

AI may change the way we teach.
It may change the way we learn.
It may change the way we create and communicate.

But perhaps it has not and should not change the love, respect, gratitude and trust that bind a teacher and a student.

Today, I realised that nothing much has changed after all.

The tools may have changed.
The times may have changed.
The world may have changed.

But the heart of education remains beautifully, profoundly human.
