Every year on July 18th, the United Nations celebrates Nelson Mandela International Day in honor of the revolutionary changemaker and leader.
At MET Rishikul Vidyalaya (MRV), we motivate students to bring about change through a competition called 'The Change Project.' It is a platform that allows students to ideate, research, innovate, and create solutions for a better future for the entire world.
This year's project was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Nithin Rajamani, a scientist at ICMR pursuing his Ph.D. in the field of climate change and its impact.
The project centered on the school theme of "Take Responsibility." Students from Grades 9, AS, and A Levels (in groups) played the role of ambassadors for change and, through their projects, raised awareness about climate change issues being faced in different parts of the world. They also compared the region's issues to those being faced by our country, India.
In part one of the project, students created research charts, displays, and models made of recycled materials on the issues and solutions identified by them. These were displayed in a grand gallery walk for other students and teachers.
In part two (which is ongoing), students will compile a research report on the region they selected, present their findings, and reflect on their learning and experience.
Our students have begun their journey to be climate change warriors, and we at MRV are proud of their work and dedication!
